February 2025

And just like that, the teams started coming! Meanwhile, I was still moving trying to get situated. I had to learn the roads here and also get comfortable with the town and driving conditions. I was less worried about the driving aspect and more worried about getting lost or making a wrong turn.

This has so far been the scariest road I have driven down and I even had to ask Ben Mooney to get me out of a pickle. I have gotten better and better at driving these roads!

At the end of last year Nick Frey and BMI designed a new house that expands the front porch and allows more openness. It is primarily used in the hotter climates where more outdoor space is welcomed and this design also allows for airflow.

And finally, the BMI foundation and all of our favorite parts of the ministry, wheelchairs! These days are always so special because we are touching the lives of so many and they receive the Love of Jesus Christ as well as some very much needed care and MOBILITY!

As we are visiting families there are some amazing moments of the pouring out of God's love as well as some moments that make you smile, like 10's of pigs running around a neighbors yard!

Finally, something that God has drawn me to this country not only for helping others, being the hands and feet of Jesus, but also for the amazing culture. This has to be one of my favorite ruins of the Ancient Mayan civilizations and it sits in the country today with no tourism or repairing. It is beautiful and really allows me to reminisce and imagine what it was like all those years ago!

I truly hope you got a glimpse of my first couple of months here in country have been like. These are some of the verses that have been on my mind during this time.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

'For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'

Hebrews 6:10 NIV

'God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.'

Matthew 5:16 NIV

'In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.'

Last but not least I recently came across the Message translation of Matthew 5:48 which I found to be unique and not anywhere near a direct translation but also very fitting. It is something to ponder and stays true to the spirit of the message of Jesus.

Matthew 5:48 MSG

'“...Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.”'
